A Notary Public is an official appointed by the state government to serve as an impartial witness to the signing of important documents, helping to deter fraud and ensure proper execution.
We notarize a variety of documents, including real estate papers, wills, living wills, powers of attorney, and more. Please note that we do not notarize documents from Vital Records or Federal government documents.
Notarization ensures that the signer of the document is indeed who they claim to be and that they understand and are willing to sign the document without duress.
We can notarize copies of immigration documents as true copies of the original, but we cannot notarize the original documents themselves.
Virginia law requires that a signer be identified either by personal knowledge or one or more of the following documents: state-issued driver’s license, state-issued identification card, U.S. passport, unexpired foreign passport, Certificate of U.S. Citizenship, Certificate of Naturalization, or Alien Registration Card with photograph.
